International Printmaker
For those who have been wondering where I have been in the past few weeks...well, I'm happy to say I have been busy!
The last time I did printmaking was 4 years ago when I did my Venice study abroad program and here I am sort-of reliving the experience in Brazil again.
I signed up for two 1-week workshops with Prof. Sheila Goloborotko, a brazilian artist that lives in NYC (she is a professor at Pratt Institute, which is how I managed to find her) in Museu Lasar Segall.
For those who have no idea what printmaking is I will briefly summarize, including visuals below.
First, you have to create your plate, mine is the one in the middle. Their's endless possibilities on how to do plates so I will not get into that.
This is Nina, lab assistant and who I practice my Portuguese with the most, she is inking a plate, adding color to it. Behind her is Sheila, my AWESOME professor!
Place our plate on the printing press with paper on top. Then have it go through...
... shortly after your art is revealed!! Below are some of the pieces I have been working on!
What do you think???
shout out to the BK!! These workshops are now sadly over, however, printmaking does not end there. I start on monday once a week in a new studio!
